Description
Finally some scenic pictures of Sol'are. Wanted to be sure that I capture the brilliance he deserved and with winter her, it was tough. So when the sun came out, I jumped at the opportunity and took some pics.
He was truly been a time consuming piece. First he took a long while to get to what I wanted him to look like. Most of my pieces faces are quite small so to have something focused on expression was tough. Then when I managed to figure the expression and have it look the way I wanted it to be, I then thought, I'll scale him - that took countless hours and hours and hours
Happy to say that the sculpting is all done and so is the painting.
As for his painting, I had a lot of fun. I love working with oranges, but yellows can be tough as they can tend to look off. Overall, I think it worked out rather well. My biggest accomplishment with this guy is his eyes. Instead of adding the highlight myself (like I usually do), I decided to by some really glossy varnish (was the husband's idea..cannot take all the credit ) and allow them to shine all on their own. I also applied the same varnish to his teeth, gums and tongue to give the impression that they are wet. He was a lot of work, but A LOT of fun!!!
