Here is my first ever finished Humanoid: my Mermaid. I am pretty pleased with her - she was an experience to make and paint although Humanoids are much tougher to make.
The main difference with her is I made her with 2 different types of clay - 1 being Super Sculpey, which I have had a lot of experience with, and the other Cloud cla,y which was my first experience using. I made the rock she is sitting on (or appears to be sitting on) out of it and her hair as well. I really liked it for those things in particular as the fluffy texture of the clay allowed for me really get organic look. However I would not overly recommend this clay - it's fun at first although it dries REALLY quickly so getting any details is really really really tough.
Also I found these really awesome metallic paints that I found worked AMAZING! I had a ton of fun mixing them together to make the colors you see on her. Cloud clay absorbs all the paint you put on it, so I did end up using more for the Hair and Rock, but it all worked out.
I really like this picture because it really shows the tail designs.
Other pictures:
Painted with: Acrylic Paint
Body/Tail made with: Super Sculpey
Hair/Rock made with: Cloud Clay
Base has Super Sculpey Firm in it for stability
Mermaid has a complete wire armature within it to allow for it to easily hold it's shape prior to being baked.

If your clay absorbs the paint - try a few coats of krylon flat white primer and paint over it when it's dry. ^^
